Our Founders

José Antônio Rezende da Silva was born into the world of coffee. He grew up as the son of coffee farmers in Brazil’s northern Paraná region, between longitudes 22 and 23.

Since 2003, he’s been dedicated to transforming the lives of coffee growers by introducing modern techniques to improve coffee quality – from cultivation and nutrition to management and proper processing methods. In 2004, he became a certified professional coffee taster.

By 2007, José expanded his efforts to promoting best production practices. He has supported farms gain Fair Trade certification and develop geographical identification initiatives. Such efforts opened doors to new markets which increased the commercial value and profitability of coffee. Consequently, it has improved incomes, enhanced the life quality of families and communities across various regions.

In 2010, he became a Q-grader certified by the SCA. In that same year, José took Paraná’s coffee to the world. As a result, it started gaining international recognition marking a key turning point for the region.

In 2015, José founded a company focused on buying and exporting Brazilian coffee to all continents. He integrated ESG programs aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals with the aim to foster sustainable progress throughout the coffee supply chain.

Now, in 2024, after stepping down from the leadership of his company, he’s taking on a new challenge: founding Longitude Coffees to make Brazil’s finest coffees more accessible to the world.

José’s journey, from providing technical support to building a global coffee business, is a true testament to how sustainability and quality can go hand in hand.

Suzi Ninov:
Raised on a farm in the Rio Grande do Sul countryside, Suzi Ninov found her passion for agriculture at an early age.
She moved to Paraná state 18 years ago where she fell in love with coffee cultivation. Since then, she has been changing the lives of coffee growers, teaching them that in order to grow high quality coffee and obtain great productivity, it is necessary to treat the coffee plants as living beings, respect their nutritional needs, as well as the finite soil resources. By doing so, the will be able to feed the world sustainably and make it possible for farmers’ future generations to remain in the countryside.
In 2017, one of the coffee growers Suzi mentored, won the award for the best coffee in Brazil. The need to use the right nutrient, at the right time and in the right quantity is her working premise.
Her career in a large multinational Brazilian agribusiness company as a sales representative is inspiring and demonstrates how dedication, innovation, responsibility and competence can lead to great achievements and made her an authority for many in the market.
Suzi’s story is an example that shows – regardless of the sector – success is achievable for those who work hard and have a vision.
Suzi’s life purpose is to introduce the most appropriate and innovative nutritional practices to coffee growers, by always using sustainable cultivation methods, seeking a greener future and raising the standard of the most popular beverage in the world.
Along the way, she joined the other Longitude founders to take the best of Brazilian coffee to the whole world in an innovative, sustainable and ethical way.
